We were (and still are!) so honored to receive the NKBA 2nd Place for the large kitchen category. Our Pine Lake House was a delightful transformation and we couldn’t be happier with the outcome. It is a more efficient, open and welcoming kitchen. It was our true pleasure to design and work with our amazing clients! And we could not have done it without the expertise and collaboration of our team, Architect Nimb1e Design-Sam Dahl, and Builder Trucraft-Travis Counsell. And a huge shout out to our local custom cabinet maker, Handcraft for executing our design especially the pantry door.
The lake front home was dark, enclosed and very outdated. With old appliances, cabinets and a layout that did not take advantage of the amazing lake views. We re-designed the kitchen by removing a wall that separated the kitchen and great room. This allowed for natural light, a large island and the sink positioned with a view of the lake as opposed to a driveway view.
A large island accommodates a prep sink, 2nd dishwasher, storage and seating for two. The best feature of this kitchen – the “hidden” walk-in pantry with a cabinet panel faced door that blends seamlessly with the surrounding cabinets.
The foundation of this kitchen’s design is the classic combination of white cabinets and white subway tile. We incorporated a variety of textures and finishes to add depth and interest to the design.
Feature
We designed a cabinet panel faced slab swing door into the walk-in pantry that is flush and seamless with the oven cabinet and built-in refrigerator and freezer. The pantry door was designed to have it swing in for best function during heavy prep time with client in and out of the pantry for prep items.
Cabinetry
Crisp, white cabinetry was given an interesting, luxe look with honey bronze finish hardware.
Natural Lighting
Large windows overlooking the lake flood the kitchen with natural light, further enhancing the bright and welcoming ambiance.
Contrast
We wanted a subtle contrast between the flooring and white cabinetry, so we chose a light, rustic-looking hard wood.
