Are you planning on building a home this year? Building a new home is quite a big deal and there are so many different aspects that are involved before the plans are even draw up.
The beginning stages of a new home build often start with the exterior. What style speaks to you, do you want to fit in with the overall design of the neighborhood, or do you want to stand apart from the rest? You love the modern farmhouse look but you want to add your own personal touch. You want timeless and classic, but you still want that 2022 look. From building materials to paint and landscaping – each element will come together to create the home of your dreams. Let’s talk about those elements and how 2022 is inspiring them.
What’s Trending in the Exterior Paint Palette –
2022 seems to be the year that is inspired by nature. Earth tones and colors that accent nature are very popular right now. We are seeing a lot of green – olive, forest and muted greens. Blue and gray are classic colors that remain a classic in 2022.
Black and white came in with a bang a few years ago and they are not going anywhere this year! Softer, warmer whites are going to be more popular than the previous stark, bright white. (Designer tip: A rich charcoal compliments a softer white really well). Painted brick is favored over the farmhouse siding look, and also a budget friendly one. However, a blend of the two creates gorgeous contrast of texture. This also brings us to another trend – mixing exterior materials!
Blending Materials and Creating Contrast –
How is this a trend rather than a no brainer? Think brick with a trending material such as copper or bronze metals – like a painted brick with copper gutters. Contrast, contrast, contrast. A soft white wood siding with a dark metal roof. If your budget doesn’t support materials like copper and bronze metals or you simply prefer a different route – white trim is going nowhere! Natural stone on a portion of the exterior contrasted by a simple, smooth concrete texture.
If you’re feeling inspired and ready to talk about a new home build, let’s talk!
