Christmas Decorating – Mantel and Staircase Styling

Christmas Decorating – Mantel and Staircase Styling

If you’re in the mood for Christmas decorating and need some inspiration on festively styling your mantel, you’ve come to the right place! I don’t know about you, but I like to get all of my traditional decorations up before I decide if I’d like to spruce it up with some new pieces. The mantel is one of my favorite features when it comes to decorating for the holidays. Stockings are such an important part of our families Christmas morning tradition and are very sentimental to me. My mantel decor go-to is a pine garland and pinecones, with touches of red and white berries and sparkling lights. I keep it simple since my stockings add the personal touch and character that I love. I layer on with some fresh bows and Christmas greens to give it a natural touch and add the amazing scent of natural pine.

This year, we are seeing a lot of green foliage garland, ribbon and bows, bells, velvet and warm textures.

There is always a back and forth trend from traditional to the unexpected each year Christmas rolls around. One year it’s red and green then it’s deep blues and white, back to red and green…and so it continues. This year, we’re seeing more of the iconic colors of red and green! The traditional palette truly evokes tradition, warmth and a most welcome feel. However, rich blues and even pink are the unexpected color trends. Personally, I love the more traditional look.
