When our Park City clients came to us with a vision for their new mountain home, they had one big request for the media room: it had to be comfortable and functional, a true gathering space for their family to relax, entertain, and wind down after a long day on the slopes.
They didn’t want the typical rustic log cabin look. Instead, they were after something more modern to stay consistent with the architecture of the home, still cozy, still warm, but elevated and timeless.
It all started with a concept. After given the direction our clients wanted to go, we went to the drawing board to round up the perfect furnishings and accessory selections to offer them the perfect space that ticked all their wishlist boxes.

Comfortable, But Make It Stylish
We were lucky to have a generous footprint to work with, which meant we could go big on seating. A large leather sectional became the anchor of the room – offering plenty of space for the whole family to lounge during movie nights or game days. The leather adds that perfect layer of warmth and texture, while still feeling polished.
To complement the sectional, we brought in a pair of modern leather accent chairs. These not only add extra seating but also help define the layout and keep the room from feeling too “sofa heavy.” The key was mixing clean lines with cozy materials to strike the right balance.
A Cozy Atmosphere with a View
One of the standout features of this media room is the stunning view of the snowy landscape just outside. We positioned the seating to take advantage of that connection to the outdoors because what’s better than watching a movie while snow falls outside your window?
And yes, there’s a TV, but we didn’t let it dominate the room. It sits just above a sleek electric fireplace with a modern profile. We flanked the fireplace with a natural stone feature wall to ground the space and add that organic mountain texture…without veering into cabin territory.
Built-In Entertaining
The open bar area is another highlight of this space. We knew the family wanted this room to serve double duty as an entertainment hub, so we incorporated a large bar setup complete with industrial-style bar stools. The stools feature wood elements that bring warmth and contrast to the clean lines of the bar itself. It’s the kind of spot where post-ski snacks and drinks can be served up without missing a moment of the movie, or the conversation.
A Space That Works for Their Lifestyle
At the end of the day, our goal was to create a room that fits seamlessly into our clients’ mountain lifestyle. They needed a space that could handle cozy nights in, weekend guests, and everything in between.
By focusing on modern, comfortable furnishings, layering in textures and natural materials, and maximizing the incredible view, we gave this family a media room that feels like a retreat…without a single antler chandelier in sight. 😉
