The 2025 NKBA|KBIS show was nothing short of inspiring! Every year, this event fuels my creativity, and this time was no exception. The energy, innovation, and fresh design perspectives were truly next-level, and I left buzzing with ideas to bring into my own projects.
One of the standout trends was the resurgence of vibrant, personality-filled colors in kitchen design. Green continues to dominate, reaffirming its place as the go-to hue for cabinetry and accents, while deep blues and warm browns are making a strong statement as well. These colors not only add depth and richness but also reflect a shift toward more personalized, expressive spaces.

Biophilic design was another major theme, with an increased emphasis on integrating nature into the heart of the home. From kitchens that seamlessly connect to outdoor living areas to organic materials like raw wood, stone, and lush greenery, the movement toward bringing the outdoors in has never been more exciting. The focus wasn’t just on aesthetics—it was about creating spaces that feel fresh, grounding, and deeply connected to nature.
The 2025 NKBA show emphasized that today’s kitchen and bath designs must seamlessly blend function with personal style. Prioritizing functionality doesn’t mean sacrificing personality—customized layouts and unique finishes ensure a space feels both efficient and uniquely yours. This was clear with unique, sculpture-style faucets and sinks.
Smart technology continues to evolve, but the key is integrating it thoughtfully, enhancing convenience without overwhelming the design. A major trend was the art of concealment, with hidden storage and integrated appliances keeping spaces sleek and clutter-free. Another favorite feature that is trending – integrated charging stations. Flexibility is key, as multifunctional tools and adaptable layouts allow rooms to evolve with daily needs.

Lighting has emerged as a defining element, not just for ambiance but also for boosting both function and aesthetic appeal. And beyond selecting sustainable materials, designers are now extending eco-conscious choices into water conservation, energy efficiency, and waste reduction—proving that great design can be both stylish and responsible.
Attending NKBA|KBIS always reinvigorates my passion for design, and I can’t wait to weave these incredible trends into my upcoming projects. Whether it’s embracing bold color choices or enhancing the indoor-outdoor flow of a space, the future of kitchen design is looking more inspiring than ever!
