A Moody, Elevated Laundry Room for a Beach House That’s Meant to Be Lived In

Laundry rooms don’t have to be an afterthought – especially in a beach house designed for real life. This space was approached with the same intention as the rest of the home: curated, functional, and quietly elevated. A place that works hard, but still feels beautiful every time you walk in.

Moody Tones That Feel Grounded, Not Heavy

There’s a shift happening in interiors right now. Homeowners are leaning into richer, more grounded palettes – and for good reason. They bring depth, warmth, and a sense of calm that lighter spaces often miss.

Here, we used Sherwin Williams Succulent (SW 9650) on the cabinetry. It’s a softened, moody green that feels organic and coastal without leaning too literal. In a beach house setting, this kind of tone connects the indoors to the natural surroundings – think dunes, driftwood, and evergreens – while still feeling refined. The result is a laundry room that feels intentional, ot purely utilitarian.

Custom Cabinetry That Does the Heavy Lifting

Custom cabinetry is always a priority for us, and this space is a perfect example of why.

Every inch was designed to support how the room is actually used:

  • Closed storage keeps everyday essentials tucked away
  • A dedicated hanging rod creates space for air-drying and quick access
  • Integrated drawers make sorting and organizing effortless
  • Upper cabinetry maximizes vertical space without overwhelming the room

Custom means it fits your life, not the other way around. And in a hardworking space like this, that makes all the difference.

Contrast That Elevates the Entire Room

To balance the depth of the cabinetry, we layered in lighter, textural finishes that keep the space feeling fresh and coastal.

  • Countertop: Pental Quartz “Valley White”
A clean, durable surface that brightens the room while standing up to daily use. It reflects just enough light to soften the moody palette.
  • Backsplash: Daltile “Mesmerist – Trance”
A subtle, glossy tile that adds movement and dimension. The tone variation keeps it from feeling flat, while still reading as neutral and timeless.
  • Hardware: Amerock “Blackrock” in Matte Black
This is where the room gets its edge. The matte black hardware grounds the cabinetry and ties in beautifully with the darker appliances and fixtures, creating a cohesive, tailored look.

Designed for Real Life (and Real Laundry)

Beyond the finishes, what makes this space successful is how it functions day-to-day. There’s room to sort, fold, hang, and store – without clutter taking over. The layout allows for multiple tasks at once, which is especially important in a busy household or a home that hosts guests often.

We also design with flexibility in mind, knowing that the best solutions aren’t always finalized on paper. As the space comes to life, we stay engaged on site – making thoughtful adjustments when needed. Sometimes that means simple but impactful pivots, like adding pedestals to the washer and dryer for better ergonomics and storage, or fine-tuning details that only reveal themselves during installation. It’s this hands-on approach that allows us to truly work through the design in real time and ensure every element functions exactly as it should.

And just as important – it feels good to be in here. Because even the most practical spaces should reflect the same level of care as the rest of the home.

Beauty That Endures

This laundry room is a reflection of what we believe design should be: thoughtful, functional, and built to last. Moody tones that won’t feel like a trend in a year. Materials that perform. Cabinetry that’s tailored to the way a home is actually lived in.

A space that works hard, but still feels like part of the home you love.

Kindly,

Michelle
