As a Mom of 3 – or 5 if you count the fur babies (which I do!), one of the biggest challenges I face in my home is keeping the furniture looking fresh and clean. This can prove to be quite impossible as spills and stains are almost always bound to happen. How do I keep myself from going crazy over these messes? Performance Fabrics! If you haven’t been introduced to these textiles, or maybe you have yet to decipher what makes these textiles different from the others, I’m here to help! What is a performance fabric? What are the best features of performance fabrics? What makes them durable? And what to look for when choosing? Here are your answers:
And welcome to the Color Crush Series! I’ll be sharing a curation of current home decor trends, as well as my very own current loves for the home. And who knows, maybe you’ll find that perfect shade of blue you’ve been looking for, or your mad search for that blush chair will come to an end? I’m beginning the month with Benjamin Moore’s 2019 Color of the Year – Metropolitan AF-690. This neutral shade is “calm, composed and effortlessly sophisticated” and it “exudes glamour, beauty and balance.” Love it already!
Another change of season is here! I must say, with the unexpected storm last month, I am loving these sunny days and (record breaking) warm temps. I don’t know about you, but a new season always brings inspiration to give my home a little bit of TLC. Whether it be freshening up, organizing or updating. Interior designers are constantly drawing inspiration from all aspects of life and our surroundings – from architecture, global trends or even by a walk through our own city streets. I thought it would be fun to share with you just how those worlds merge by drawing a little bit of inspiration from my very own portfolio.
Last week I introduced a new blog series focusing on self care. If you didn’t have the chance to read the first entry, catch up with tips on how to create your very own spa bathroom. A trip to the spa is a no-brainer option when it comes to needing a moment of rest, relaxation and self care, but it’s not as easy as setting an appointment, is it? We have to check our work calendar, check our personal calendars and not to mention checking the kid’s calendars! When we have to search for a moment of rest in our daily calendars, something isn’t right.
The word SELF can easily be seen as selfish or self indulgent but caring for your “self” is one of the healthiest things you can do! Trust me, as a busy working mom running my household and my company can be way too much and overwhelming. I speak from experience and learned the hard lessons of not caring for myself and making that a priority.
As February makes its grand entrance, I am feeling the need for a rejuvenated spirit, a positive mindset and some much needed energy. So, that is exactly what I am focusing on this month. And I’m not stopping there! It’s time to prepare my home for bright and new beginnings too, and it all begins with a little “refresh and organize”.
I hope your holidays were joyful, relaxing and full of quality time with friends and family. Can you believe 2019 is off and running? It’s off to an exciting start for me and my team and I’m thrilled to share some news! I have been selected to participate in this year’s Design House Northwest benefiting the Fred Hutch Cancer Research Center. Read More
