Feeling all kinds of Blush for this months’ Color Crush post. There is something so versatile about this shade of pink – it can freshen up a space for Spring or warm up a room in the wintertime. Pair it with creams and fair grays for a soft and feminine look, or let it be the shade to tone down bold reds and moody blues. And yes, blush can be sparingly paired with red! My color story is showing this pretty shade in all forms – from pretty pillows to durable fabrics (kid friendly-pet friendly always on my mind) and bold chairs to sweet votives. Get ready to blush!
And welcome to the Color Crush Series! I’ll be sharing a curation of current home decor trends, as well as my very own current loves for the home. And who knows, maybe you’ll find that perfect shade of blue you’ve been looking for, or your mad search for that blush chair will come to an end? I’m beginning the month with Benjamin Moore’s 2019 Color of the Year – Metropolitan AF-690. This neutral shade is “calm, composed and effortlessly sophisticated” and it “exudes glamour, beauty and balance.” Love it already!
Interior designers are constantly drawing inspiration from all aspects of life and our surroundings – from architecture, global trends or even by a walk through our own city streets. Design inspiration is all around us and the sources are endless. One of the biggest sources being the fashion design world. Both interior design and fashion design tend to follow the same trends, prints, colors and texture from season to season. I thought it would be fun to share with you just how those worlds merge by drawing a little bit of inspiration from my very own portfolio.
As February makes its grand entrance, I am feeling the need for a rejuvenated spirit, a positive mindset and some much needed energy. So, that is exactly what I am focusing on this month. And I’m not stopping there! It’s time to prepare my home for bright and new beginnings too, and it all begins with a little “refresh and organize”.

The verdict is out! Pantone has announced 2019’s Color of the Year, and we are so onboard! At Michelle Yorke Interior Design, we are all about embracing color and immersing it into our designs. Nothing brings more joy to a space than a pop of bright and cheery color, and Living Coral is the perfect tone to enliven a room.
‘Tis the season where we open our doors to holiday visitors. It could be our neighbors or guests from out of town, kids home from college or an entire family reunion. Whatever the occasion may be – a Christmas Eve party or a simple family brunch – our front door tends to welcome a lot more guests this time of year. There is nothing like a friendly face to greet a guest, but why not leave a lasting impression when inviting them in. Let’s talk about giving your entry an added touch of love to create that lasting impression. Your entry, after all, is the introduction to the rest of your home. Let me just add, “a touch of love” does not require a home remodel! Here are some fun ideas for inspiration on how to welcome up your welcome.
It’s almost Happy Thanksgiving time! First and foremost, let’s ask ourselves a question. Do we really need a day to remind ourselves to be thankful and grateful? For me, every day is a gift of which I am so thankful for… the only thing missing is pumpkin spice everything! This is, however, one of my most favorite holidays. It is a time for entertaining! I love creating an inviting (and stylish) space to bring friends and family together. It’s all about warmth, comfort and a pumpkin here and there. This is what I have my eye on this Thanksgiving…
The days are getting darker and temps are getting cooler – it’s the perfect time of year to hunker down and switch off. Nothing sounds better at the end of the day than curling up under the covers and staying cozy, and in the morning, staying in bed for just a few more snooze alarms. It’s so easy to get stuck into this routine and before we know it, we are tired and drowsy all day.
Fashion Week at the Bellevue Collection has come and gone, leaving behind some “luxe fall looks”. This event is always a show stopper and brings so much energy to our town. The runway was filled with designers like Kate Spade New York, Max Mara, and Eileen Fisher. There was a wide variety of styles – from tone on tone neutrals with plush layers, jewel tones and pops of bold color to pretty florals, touches of leopard print and a splash of shimmer.
